 Hi, I’m Sven.
I am a product guy at heart.
For more than 20 years, I worked across seven startups. The companies changed, but I kept coming back to the same questions.
What do people actually need? What is getting in their way? What could we build that they would use and pay for?
Most of those startups were in marketing and advertising, so we built products that helped other companies reach more people, win customers and grow.
I loved that work. Give me a new market and a problem worth solving, and I can lose myself in it. I got to do that many times, and eventually became pretty good at it.
Several of those startups were acquired, which pulled me into corporate. I learned how to work with large teams, budgets and established systems. But sooner or later, I always missed building from scratch.
There is an energy to it that I never found anywhere else. You have fewer resources, nobody has the answer yet and every decision matters.
I left corporate three times. At some point, I realized that building was more than my work. It had become part of who I am.
Starting my own business brought all of that together. I could keep doing the work I loved while deciding what I built, who I worked with and how it fit into my life.
The Midlife Founder Academy grew from there.
